General Business:
Matariki week, starting 14 June. School plans are to have it revolve around planting, the garden. Gillian planning on having a special newsletter page for Matariki plans. If we want to do the barbecue we can tie in with that. Mahurangi College Kapa Haka visit in the works. Plan. Assemble 2pm. Plant seedlings. Play adult netball game for 20-30 minutes and let kids cheer on. Then switch and let kids play netball while parents get barbecue fired up and going. BYO alcohol ok.

For newsletter:
Matariki Celebration Family Day, 13 June, Sunday, 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Bring a winter vegetable seedling to plant in the school garden to observe the Matariki harvest and “new beginnings” celebration. After gardening we will be playing games and the PTA is hosting a big free sausage sizzle to thank everyone for all their efforts this year in helping the school, especially carnival. Drinks and chips will also be available at very low cost.

School news:
Trip to see Peter Pan was very successful, but school forgot to ask PTA to help with cost of bus. Gillian asks if we can please cover some of that cost. About $660. Jenine and Selena to cut a check and give to Fay.

Time to renew photocopying contract. Staying with Konica/Minolta. They have sponsored 20 sets of full new uniforms for sports teams, and a nice basketball backboard. The uniform sponsorship did not extend to socks. Idea is for PTA to buy supply of blue sports socks for parents to buy at a discount to guarantee they all have the same colour socks. Idea is to source spare socks and extra uniform sets from China. Jenine to get socks to Ritchie to take with him. Will give him a uniform to take on future trip or send it on to supplier there.

School looking to buy a table tennis table. Cost about $500. May ask PTA to help fund.

The cameras the school bought with the Telecom points a couple years ago are hopeless, so the school would like to buy one new camera each year, over three years, so each classroom will get a new one. Jenine to ask Vern if he can source something nice, non-SLR.

There is a plan for the pool toilet. Quotes should be here before the next meeting. Should be able to cover that with PTA

Calling for expressions of interest: Do we want to do a disco again this year?

Preschool news: Their committee is talking about doing another trivial pursuit night, wondering if we want to do it with them, or if we were going to do one at all. They might need our help putting one on. Or they can take some facet of Lawless in Leigh.

Meeting adjourned 4:15 pm.
Next meeting: AGM - 25 June 2010. Nomination forms to go out with next newsletter. Forms to have positions described.
