End of Year Note from the Chairperson
14/12/09 10:33 AM
PTA End of year summary December 2009
I have enjoyed my time as chairperson for the last half of the year, and want to share my appreciation for the regular core group that have always attended the monthly meetings: Selena, Jenine, Bec, Helena, Katrina, Kate, Kaye and Gillian.
Anyone is always welcome to come along to the meetings and offer their opinion on the agenda. They can be fun too. It is the PTA’s role to fundraise for the school as the budget doesn’t cover many of the essential things the school needs. It is a very important aspect to the school, and needs to reflect all the families therefore we do encourage your input.
Since the carnival in April, which is the year’s most significant fundraising activity, the PTA have continued to run regular barbeques and organised the Sawmill Disco in September. Some of the things that the fundraised money has been used for include an interactive whiteboard for Room 2, the annual school bus trip, and the recent painting of the school pool. A new water tap will be installed over the holidays in the school playground also.
The upcoming carnival in 2010 will need as many volunteers as possible to make it successful and to provide the school with the funds it needs to keep it being the special and unique school we all love. Gillian and Fay will be the coordinators for the 2010 carnival and we are asking each family to take on a role of some sort to spread the work. Talk to Gillian about the role you would like to do.
Instead of the Surf and Turf there will be a fun run organised by the PTA on February 14th. Please do let me know if you might be interested in assisting with this also.
Selena has summarized the financial status of the PTA below, but I encourage you all to visit the PTA website when it is up and running again next year where the minutes of each meeting, including financial reports, will always be made available. If you have any questions about the PTA please do grab me anytime for a chat. Look forward to hearing all your ideas next year. Have a great holiday!
